In this paper, an exhaustive study of vertical column is discussed by analysizing the horizontal beam of cantilever 3D CMM whose structure character is considered, which concludes structural analysis,dynamics analysis and error analysis of the vertical column. We point out that the measuring error of 3D CMM caused by the elastic deformation and other factors can be added up and compensated by the software.
